Farnhamville Man Pleads Not Guilty To Charge Stemming From Attempted Burglary This Summer

A Farnhamville man charged for an alleged attempted burglary in Carroll over the summer is scheduled for trial early next year. According to Carroll County District Court records, 36-year-old Joseph Dewitt Midkiff pled not guilty last week to one count of third-degree criminal mischief, an aggravated misdemeanor. His trial is set to begin on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022. Midkiff was initially charged with second-degree attempted burglary, a class D felony. Authorities say he broke into the jewelry case at the Carroll Walmart but fled before stealing anything when he was approached by employees. Midkiff faces a maximum penalty of up to two years in prison and $6,250 in fines if convicted.
