By 10 a.m. Thursday morning, MidAmerican Energy was reporting only around a dozen outages in the Carroll Broadcasting listening area. The high winds and severe storms caused extreme damage across the state, taking down transmission and distribution poles and wires, at one point leaving more than 48,000 customers without power overnight. In the Fort Dodge area, there are still an estimated 1,494 without power, but MidAmerican reports they expect most to be returned to normal by midnight tonight or by 6 a.m. Saturday at the latest.
