The Jefferson Police Department is investigating the theft of groceries from their local Hy-Vee store. The theft was reported by employees at approximately 1:08 p.m. Tuesday. The witnesses told authorities a couple had shopped in the store and purchased groceries. The male went outside with their purchases while the female grabbed two carts of goods that were at the front entrance for online customer pickup. The items, totaling $287.47, were loaded into the couple’s vehicle and they left the premises. The investigating officer has been able to identify the suspects from video surveillance footage.
