Both drivers escaped injury in separate single-vehicle accidents Tuesday in Guthrie County. The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the first accident on Cherry Avenue near 240th Street, west of Guthrie Center, at approximately 2:38 p.m., however the incident occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m. The initial investigation has revealed that 36-year-old Jack Ross Lavoy of Guthrie Center was allegedly traveling too fast for the conditions and lost control of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic he was driving southbound on Cherry Avenue. The vehicle entered the southbound ditch and rolled. There was an estimated $3,500 in damage to the Sonic. The second accident occurred at approximately 9 p.m. on Frontier Road. A juvenile female from Guthrie Center told authorities she was northbound on Frontier Lane in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am and when she crested a hill, she saw another vehicle coming into her lane of travel. She swerved to avoid a head-on collision and tried to take the east road ditch. The teen over steered and ended up going across Frontier Road into the west ditch. The vehicle rolled, but the airbags did not deploy and the car subsequently caught on fire. The Pontiac was deemed a total loss estimated damage at more than $10,000.
