West Central Iowa Solid Waste Asks You Check Your Recyclable Lists Twice This Holiday Season

West Central Iowa Solid Waste is putting out a reminder to customers in their service area about what can and what cannot be recycled during the holidays. On average, Americans produce an additional 25 percent more in waste around Christmas and New Year’s, and most of it ends up in the landfill. Products such as paper gift bags and tags, cards and envelopes, cardboard, glass, and empty cans are almost always recyclable. However, other common holiday items are not, including plastic toys, tree ornaments, decorative lights or polystyrene foams found in packaging. Rather than just guessing as to what can be processed as recycling at the local facility, simply log on to www.carrollcountylandfill.com and check their naughty or nice list. And for individuals wanting to participate in West Central Iowa Solid Waste’s curbside program, call 712-792-5001 or stop by their office at 19111 Kittyhawk Ave. in Carroll.
