The History Boy Theatre Company in Jefferson is ending 2021 with the debut of a Tony Award-winning musical, Next to Normal. The musical opens on Friday, Dec. 31 with additional shows scheduled on Jan. 1, Jan. 2, Jan. 7 and Jan. 8. History Boy Founder and Artistic Director, Robby Pedersen, says they are excited to have live theatre back in Jefferson, as this will be their first production since this summer.
Next to Normal is a rock musical that follows a mother coping with worsening mental health issues and the impact it has on her friends and family. While the plot centers on a somewhat taboo subject, Pedersen says the show also has its funny moments, calling it a bit of a roller coaster.
Picking which story they are going to tell is always a challenge, but Pedersen says Next to Normal seemed like something that would appeal to many people considering the last two years.
Pedersen says attendees can also enjoy a meal prior to the show.
Tickets are $35 each, but the price drops to $30 if purchased in advance. They are available online through the link included with this story on our website, by calling 515-370-5369 or by visiting RVP1875 at 115 S. Wilson Ave. in Jefferson.
