A Carroll man accused of wielding a knife during an attempted vehicle burglary in October has pled not guilty. According to Carroll County District Court records, 36-year-old Anthony Ray Crook is charged with assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor. Crook was arrested by the Carroll Police Department on Nov. 19 following their investigation into the Oct. 24 incident in the 600 block of N. Court Street. Authorities say Crook was found inside the victim’s truck and assaulted the truck’s owner with a knife in his hand when confronted. Jury proceedings are scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 22 with a pretrial conference slated for March 10. An aggravated misdemeanor in Iowa carries a maximum penalty of two years in prison and $6,250 in fines.
