A step back three from the right wing at the buzzer by Miles Kading gave AC-GC a come from behind win in a game Coon Rapids Bayard led most of the way and appeared to be in control of, in the final few minutes. The Crusaders defense kept coming up with stops and turnovers, but the Crusaders went 1 for 4 from the free throw line in the final minute, keeping the door cracked open for the Chargers who took the ball out of bounds with 3.3 seconds left and got the bucket they needed from Kading.

Easton Hays found Tanner Oswald for a corner three, giving Coon Rapids Bayard an early 3-2 lead. A runner in the lane by Easton Hays, a bucket inside from Lance Clayburg and a three from Oswald and Coon Rapids Bayard was up 12-4 late in the 1st quarter. The Crusaders were moving the ball well on offense and playing their typical hard-nosed defense. They led 14-6 heading to the 2nd quarter. Clayburg  hit Oswald for another three early in the 2nd quarter, and Coon Rapids Bayard was up 17-9. The inside-outside game between those two worked several times with Clayburg finding Oswald again to put them ahead 24-17. Coon Rapids Bayard led 24-20 at half, but AC-GC came out of the half with four straight to tie the game. Tanner Oswald dumped a ball inside to Lance Clayburg for a bucket and Raiden Doty had a big offensive rebound and put back and the Crusaders were up 28-24. Oswald then found Gabe Obert on a baseline cut to keep them in front 30-26. The Chargers scored five straight to take their first lead since 2-0 but Gabe Obert responded with a bucket to give the Crusaders the lead back. AC-GC went back up by one after three quarters, stretching the lead to 39-35. Easton Hays dished to Corey Heithoff for a three before back-to-back baskets by Clayburg put Coon Rapids Bayard up 42-41. Tanner Oswald found Clayburg moments later and the Crusaders were up 45-41. Brock Littler hit a three for AC-GC to make it a one point game. Coon Rapids Bayard missed the front end of a one-and-one twice with opportunities to keep the lead at two possessions. Easton Hays hit 1 of 2 free throws to make it a two point lead with under 10 seconds remaining. AC-GC got the ball across half court and set up the final shot by Kading.

The loss drops Coon Rapids Bayard to 3-4 on the season as they head back to Rolling Valley Conference action on Tuesday, hosting Boyer Valley.

Tanner Oswald and Lance Clayburg were both sharp with Oswald scoring a team  high 16 points while dishing out 4 assists. Clayburg was tough inside with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Raiden Doty pulled down 6 rebounds and Gabe Obert added 6 rebounds.

Ar-We-Va used a d0minant 2nd quarter to pick up their 2nd win of the season, snapping a six game losing streak. The Rockets led by 5 after the 1st quarter but had a strong 2nd quarter defensively, helping them stretch the lead to 16 at half. The man-to-man defense was solid in the 2nd quarter, holding the Panthers to 6 points. The offense scored 17 points with good execution.  They maintained the lead the rest of the game.

Cooper Kock led the way in the win with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Braeden Kirsch finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds. Kyelar Cleveland finished with 8 points and Conner Kirsch added 8 rebounds.

The Rockets are 2-6 on the season and will host Audubon on Thursday as their game at Paton Churdan Tuesday has been postponed to January 20th.
