Saturday’s electrical outage in Carroll County that left more than 2,000 customers without power is believed to have been caused by an inadvertent circuit breaker activation at a substation. At approximately 1:21 p.m., power disconnected for residents in Halbur, the southern parts of the City of Carroll and the rural areas between the two towns. Power was restored to all affected customers by 3:25 p.m. While they were able to identify where the interruption occurred, MidAmerican Energy crews are still investigating what caused the breaker to trip.
