Jerome “Jerry” Starman of Carroll

Jerome “Jerry” Theodore Starman, age 66, of Carroll, IA, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Iowa Methodist Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines, IA.

          Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle with Fr. Timothy Friedrichsen as Celebrant.  Music for the Mass will be by the Holy Angels Choir with Kathy Halbur as organist.  Gift bearers will be Renee Haberl and Katrina Heisinger.  Eucharistic Ministers will be Tom and Pat Simons.  Casket bearers will be Bill Wiederien, Ron Bernholtz, Tom Goetzinger, Chad Nelson, Dennis Greteman, and Jeremy Thuelen.  Honorary casket bearers will be Jeff Renze, dart players, and Moose members.  Burial will be in Holy Angels Catholic Cemetery in Roselle.

     Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Monday evening.  A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Monday evening. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 A.M. on Tuesday where visitation without greeting the family will resume until 10:15 A.M.

     Jerry, the son of Joseph and Viola (Siepker) Starman, was born on January 28, 1955 in Carroll, IA. He grew up on his family’s farm near Roselle and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1973.  Jerry worked for General Electric for 27 years and then for Farner-Bocken for 22 years.  He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle and Carroll Moose Lodge.  Jerry enjoyed playing darts, playing cards, hunting and socializing with his many good friends.

     Jerry is survived by brother, Merle Starman (wife Sharon) of Montour, IA, two sisters: Darlene Starman (husband Nick Schultz) of Phoenix, Arizona and Betty Jean “Liz” Schaefer (significant other, Fritz Short) of Carroll; and two nieces: Renee Haberl (husband Troy) of Cave Creek, Arizona and Katrina Heisinger of Sioux Falls, SD.

     Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Viola Starman and two infant sisters, Mary and Denise.
