Fuel prices in Iowa continued their steady march upwards over the past week according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture. Data collected by AAA Iowa show the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline climbed one cent to $3.15 for the week ending Wednesday, Jan. 26. This is 82 cents higher than this time last year and 19 cents below the national average of $3.34, which climbed two cents. Retail diesel prices in Iowa jumped six cents to a statewide average of $3.49 compared to $2.51 per gallon a year ago and $3.48 for the national average. Wholesale ethanol was unchanged at $2.16 per gallon. The cost of a gallon of propane was up three cents to $1.92 while home heating oil prices were up six cents to $3.15 per gallon. Natural gas was the only tracked fuel to drop in price. It fell nine cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $4.13 per MMbtu.
