Lake View city officials are beginning the search for a new police chief after the current chief announced he will be taking the same position at the Denison Police Department. Lake View City Administrator, Scott Peterson, says they are accepting applications now.
Peterson says they are expecting a good response from applicants. City officials have appointed an interim police chief to lead the department until the position is filled.
The Lake View Police Department already has three full-time officers plus several part-time officers, so law informant coverage should not be impacted. Peterson says they have a clear net of qualifications they are looking for in their new chief.
Peterson adds they are working through the hiring process and hopes to announce the new chief as soon as possible.
