Weekend Traffic Stop Leads To Multiple Drug Charges For Two Storm Lake Men

A traffic stop over the weekend in Storm Lake led to drug charges against a driver and passenger. According to the Storm Lake Police Department, an officer conducted a routine stop at approximately 10:40 p.m. Sunday evening in the 700 block of Geneseo Street. The driver, identified as 38-year-old Chak Takeo of Storm Lake, was found to be wanted on an outstanding Buena Vista County warrant in connection to an ongoing investigation into alleged drug trafficking. A passenger in the vehicle, 41-year-old Jose Menjivar Ortega, also of Storm Lake, was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia during the traffic stop. A search of the Takeo vehicle revealed additional drug trafficking materials, marijuana and methamphetamine. Both men were taken into custody and transported to the Buena Vista County jail. Takeo has been charged with three counts of delivery of methamphetamine and possession with intent to deliver, class B felonies, and two counts of failure to affix a drug tax stamp and delivery of marijuana, class D felonies, and multiple misdemeanor charges. Takeo remains in custody at the jail on a $56,300 bond. Ortega was booked for possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia and held on a $2,800 bond.
