Four projects are on the agenda for discussion or approval during next week’s Carroll City Council meeting. City officials are scheduled to convene at 5:15 p.m. on Monday with the first major topic on the agenda being the sanitary sewer extension plans along E. Highway 30. Initially, the engineer’s estimate for the project had come in between $290,000 and $450,000, depending on if the line is brought to the western or eastern edge of the property that is being annexed. City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, says bids came back as much as $120,000 over estimate, so council direction is needed.
Once the council has decided their preferred route forward, they will then move into a public hearing concerning the plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated cost for proposed street restoration work this coming construction season. City officials had been considering an up to $4 million reconstruction project on Adams Street but decided earlier this month to push it back by at least a year, if not longer, to allow more time for public input from affected residents. However, Pogge-Weaver says the city still plans to move forward with road work in other areas of town.
He adds the other two projects up for discussion on Monday: considering awarding a contract for the Graham Park drainage ditch improvements and a professional services agreement for a total of $25,700 with JEO Consulting to remove chlorine residuals throughout the city’s water system.
The council is scheduled to host a public work session Monday on the housing shortage in the City of Carroll. Pogge-Weaver says the public is encouraged to attend to provide their input.
Again, the Monday, March 28 Carroll City Council begins at 5:15 p.m. at city hall. The meeting is open to the public and will also be live-streamed via the city’s YouTube page. The full agenda and details on how to attend remotely can be found included below.
