Storm Lake Police Department Made An Arrest In A Sexual Assault Investigation

An arrest was made in a sexual assault case started by the Storm Lake Police Department two weeks ago. According to law enforcement, on Monday, March 14, they were notified of possible sexual assault of a minor occurring in Storm Lake. As a result of the investigation, police allege that a male subject identified as 49-year-old Carlos Sican Alvarado of Storm Lake did have sexual contact on four occasions with the same minor from January 2019 to March 2022. Authorities say yesterday (Monday), Alvarado was located at a residence in the 1400 block of West 6th Street, where he was taken into custody. He is charged with two counts of lascivious acts with a child, a class C felony, two counts of indecent contact with a child, an aggravated misdemeanor, and one count of harassment third degree, a simple misdemeanor. Alvarado was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail, where he was booked and held on a $24,300 bond. The Storm Lake Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Buena Vista County Attorney’s Office, Iowa Department of Human Services, and Mercy One Child Advocacy Center.
