Carroll City Officials Anticipate Brief Meeting Monday With Only A Few Action Items On The Agenda

Now that the City of Carroll’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 budget is finalized, city officials anticipate a relatively short meeting for Monday evening. The council will convene at 5:15 p.m. at City Hall. The first items of business are a proclamation recognizing Carroll’s as a Tree City USA community and the first reading of an ordinance change regarding the fire chief/building inspection director position. According to City Manager, Mike Pogge-Weaver, the current Fire Chief, Greg Schreck, spends less than half of his time overseeing the Carroll Fire Department, with the remainder spent on building code enforcement and inspections.

He adds these proposed changes were created after consulting with fire chiefs and city managers from similar-sized communities in Iowa. Pogge-Weaver says the only other action item on Monday’s agenda is the approval of lease agreements for Merchants Park during the upcoming high school baseball season.

Again, the Monday, April 11 Carroll City Council meeting begins at 5:15 p.m. at city hall. The public is encouraged to attend. The proceedings will also be live-streamed via local-access cable and the City of Carroll YouTube page. Details on how to attend remotely and the full agenda can be found included with this story on our website.
