Carroll County Board Of Supervisors Approves Poll Worker Pay Increase During Monday’s Meeting

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously this (Monday) morning to increase wages for poll workers. According to Auditor, Kourtney Payer, the county paid staff $8.25 per hour during the most recent elections, but she is asking the board for a $3.75 increase to encourage more people to become involved in the voting process.

The mid-term general elections are slated for Tuesday, Nov. 8, but Payer says she wants the wage change in place for the June 7 Primary Election to ensure they have enough people to work the polls. Supervisors, Dean Schettler, Gene Meiners, and Scott Johnson, suggest the increase has been needed for quite some time.

The board voted unanimously in favor of the poll worker wage increase. Payer previously noted finding workers for elections is becoming increasingly challenging, especially as the older and more experienced staff become less involved. Residents interested in working the polls during the June 7 Primaries are encouraged to contact the Auditor’s Office. More information can also be found using the link below.
