Carroll Man Charged For Sexually Abusing Children Sentenced To Up To 25 Years In Prison

A 78-year-old Carroll man arrested in September on multiple allegations of child sex abuse has been sentenced in Carroll County District Court to up to 25 years in prison. According to court documents, Raymond John Miller was initially charged with three counts of second-degree sexual abuse, a class B felony. In December, he reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, and his sentence was handed down yesterday (Wednesday) during a hearing. A Carroll Police Department investigation launched last year found Miller had sexually abused at least three minor children between Jan. 1, 2007 and Dec. 31, 2015. Miller must serve at least 17.5 years of the 25-year sentence and register with the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. In accordance with the plea agreement, two other second-degree sexual abuse charges were dismissed by the courts.
