Tomorrow (Friday) marks the opening day of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) annual free fishing weekend. Iowans throughout the state will be allowed to fish without a license June 3 through June 5; however, all other regulations, including possession, line, and length limits, do remain in place. The annual free fishing weekend offers a great opportunity for families to give angling a try or introduce friends to a new summertime hobby. The DNR’s website (www.iowadnr.gov) features lists of easily accessible stocked lakes and ponds, tips on how get started, and hands-on instructional fishing events being hosted throughout the state. Links to those resources can also be found included below.
