Paul Rudolph Schulte, age 85, of Carroll, IA, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Addington Place in Carroll surrounded by his family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 24, 2022 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll with Fr. Timothy Schott as Celebrant. Lectors for the Mass will be Joe Mraz and Maggie Mraz Currie Music for the Mass will be by Kathy Halbur as pianist, and Joe Mraz, Luke Petersen, and Kaylee Schulte as vocalists. Gift bearers will be granddaughters: Heather Schulte, Beth Schulte, Aliece Martin, Krystal Light, and Kaylee Schulte. Eucharistic Minister will be George R. Mraz. Casket bearers will be George P. Mraz, Leroy Schulte, Luke Petersen, Noah Schulte, Jamie Martin, and Kevin Light. Honorary casket bearers will be Paul’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll in Carroll from 5 – 7 P.M. on Thursday where there will be a Rosary at 5:30 P.M. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 10:00 A.M. on Friday where visitation will resume until 10:45 A.M. prior to the Mass.

Paul was born on September 7, 1936 in Westphalia, IA, and he was the son of William and Anna (Rosenthal) Schulte. He grew up in Earling, IA, and graduated from Earling High School in 1954. He was married to Agnes Thielen on June 12, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portsmouth, IA. The couple made their home in Harlan from 1958-1961 when they moved to Carroll. Paul worked for Reuter International as parts manager for 37 years. Paul enjoyed telling jokes, singing, golfing, bowling, playing tennis, ballroom and square dancing, and spending time with family.
Paul is survived by his wife Agnes of Carroll; his three sons and their families: Duane Schulte (Donna) of Audubon, Paul A. Schulte (Melanie) of Shelby, IA, and Peter Schulte (Ann) of Carroll; a son-in-law George R. Mraz (Collene) of Lafayette, IN; 11 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; his in-laws: Leo Gaul of Harlan, Peggy Thielen of Omaha, Ray Thielen (Judy) of Bennington, NE, Chuck Thielen (Lydia) of Lincoln, NE, Gemma Finken of Olathe, KS, Shirley Hansen (Bob) of Gretna, Ne, and Mary Maddox of Harlan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents William and Anna Schulte; a daughter Janet Mraz; step-granddaughter Kelsie Sturm; 4 brothers; 7 sisters; Agnes’ parents Ray and Adeline Thielen; 3 brothers-in-law; 4 sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
