At their meeting Tuesday, the Sac City Council approved holding a public hearing on the sale of city-owned property at an upcoming meeting. City administrator Jamie Lawrence says they are selling it to a local developer.
The hope is that the new single-family homes will attract people to Sac City. The city also had two other properties sold during the meeting, and Lawrence says the land on State Street they acquired under Iowa Code 657. A.
Lawrence adds they opened and reviewed bids for a property in the 600 block of Oak Street. He says this is just like the property on State Street.
It is unclear if the two properties that the city acquired were sold to developers. The next Sac City Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 9.
