In less than two weeks, classrooms in the Glidden-Ralston Community School District will be bustling with activity again as the Wildcats kick off the 2022/23 school year. Typically, schools complete capital improvements and renovation projects over the summer, and Superintendent Kreg Lensch says Glidden-Ralston is no exception.
Lensch says they also made some changes to their administrative and teaching staff since the end of last year.
According to Lensch, the last couple of years have been challenging for educators. First, it was an abrupt end to the 2019/20 school year, and then the challenges posed by Return to Learn plans and frequent absences. Lensch says they are looking forward to what should be a typical school year in what feels like a long time.
Staff returns next week for professional development and classroom preparation, and students’ first day back is Tuesday, Aug. 23. Lensch has a message for students and families as they get ready to head back to class.
Glidden-Ralston is hosting their back-to-school open house from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19. The Glidden-Ralston Booster Club plans to host a community BBQ that evening with meals available for a freewill donation. Proceeds will go back to benefit Wildcat’s extracurricular activities. Lensch encourages parents and students to check the district’s website at glidden-ralston.k12.ia.us regularly.
