July 2022 Unemployment Rates Hold Steady From June

County-by-county data released yesterday (Tuesday) by Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) show July 2022 unemployment rates in the listening area were relatively unchanged from the previous month. Carroll County again led the way with the lowest unemployment rate in the region at 1.9 percent, unchanged from the previous month and 1.5 points lower than July 2021. Greene County’s rate rose by a tenth of a point to 2.1 percent but stood 1.8 points lower than a year ago. Audubon County unemployment dipped by 0.1 points and now stands at 2.1 percent, 1.2 points lower than July 2021. Sac County’s unemployment rate climbed slightly to 2.3 percent but was still 1.1 points lower than last year. Calhoun County rose slightly to 2.5 percent, but again, its rate was 1.8 points better than in July 2021. Guthrie County’s rate ticked up 0.1 points to 2.6 percent but is still 1.5 percent better than last year. Crawford County’s rate was unchanged from June 2022 but was still 1.3 points below last year’s figures. Iowa’s unemployment rate for July 2022 was 2.5 percent, while the national rate was reported at 3.5 percent.
