The Carroll City Council will receive its latest update from their contracted economic development firm, the Retail Coach, on the joint effort between the City of Carroll and the Carroll Chamber of Commerce to recruit new businesses to the community. Since November 2020, Austin Farmer has been actively working to identify companies that would benefit from a larger presence in town. City Manager Mike Pogge-Weaver says Monday’s presentation is a routine report from the Retail Coach.
Pogge-Weaver adds they have received another building permit application for the city’s infill housing incentive program, and he says it continues to generate a lot of interest from the community and beyond in new home construction. The program makes two appearances on Monday’s agenda, as city hall has received a request from a property owner to be considered for one of the $20,000 grants.
The city council does have the final say on which building permit applications are approved for the grant program. Pogge-Weaver says the council will consider the first reading of an ordinance amending parking regulations on Birch Street due to issues with traffic in the area.
Other items of note on Monday’s agenda include change orders to the ongoing Graham Park drainage ditch improvement project and a resolution for the $5.4 million General Obligation Local Option Sales and Service Tax Bond to fund a portion of the Rec Center’s HVAC and renovation work. The council convenes at 5:15 p.m. at Carroll City Hall. The full agenda and details on how to attend remotely can be found included below.
