With today’s (Thursday) snowfall, Carroll City officials are reminding residents to find alternate parking methods until roads have been cleared. Police Chief Brad Burke says it can be easy to forget the ordinance exists when it has been nearly a year since it was last in effect.
Carroll’s snow ordinance is activated anytime plows are out. Burke says residents should keep an eye on the City of Carroll and Carroll Police Department’s social media pages when wintry weather is in the forecast.
Police Chief Brad Burke says many drivers utilize on-street parking, which causes problems when crews are out plowing streets.
According to Burke, the fine for parking violations start at $10, but the added cost of having your vehicle towed is much higher.
Burke adds snow must be removed within 24 hours of a snow event’s end. If not cleared, residents could face civil penalties and the additional cost of paying city contractors to clear it for them.
