Jeffrey Specht of Coon Rapids

Jeffrey Philip Specht, age 64, of Coon Rapids, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 10, 2023 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by his loving family.

    A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids with Fr. Kevin Richter officiating.  Burial will be in the Union Township Cemetery at a later date.

   Visitation will be held at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Coon Rapids from 1 – 2 P.M. on Friday prior to the service.

    Jeffrey was born on September 2, 1958 in Rochester, MN, to Philip and Sharon (Hofbauer) Specht.  After graduating Mayo High School, he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a house painter.  He was skilled at remodeling and repairs, and could bring life back to antique clocks.  Jeffrey deeply loved his family and was a caring and loving husband and father.  His many friends and family knew of his endless compassion and loyalty, always helping others.  He enjoyed the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.  He held a special place in his heart for his grandson Owen, teaching him to cast a fishing pole and shoot a BB gun.  Jeffrey was united in marriage with Denise (Fontaine) on May 30, 1992.  They were blessed with two children, Megan and Philip.

    Jeffrey is survived by his wife Denise of Coon Rapids; daughter Megan Specht and partner Joe Dawson of Coon Rapids with Joe’s daughter Dakota Dawson and Jeff’s grandson Owen Dawson; son Philip (Jenna) Specht of Stuart; daughter Anessa Stuve of Oronoco, MN; grandson Corbin Dale Hemker; his mother Sharon Hofbauer of Coon Rapids; a sister Shelly (Charles) Davis of Boone; a half-brother Joe (Stephanie) Specht of Rochester, MN; a half-sister Patricia (Scott) Bestor of Missouri; a nephew Wyatt Davis and partner Sami McGee of Ames; a nephew Randal (Heather) Davis and their daughters Melanie and Aubrie of Boone; and many other extended family members and friends.

     Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father Philip Specht; his grandparents John and Philomena (Balk) Hofbauer, and Vernon and Irene (Severund) Specht.
