At approximately 7:40 p.m. on Monday, July 25, witnesses at Culver’s and the Dollar Tree in Carroll reported that a gold, 2000 Chevrolet Silverado K1500 had jumped the curb at Culver’s and damaged tables outside the restaurant. The owner of the vehicle, 52-year-old Kenney Allen Cathers of Coon Rapids, had left the scene. He was stopped 10 minutes later by a deputy with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at the intersection of Highway 71 and 220th Street south of Carroll. Cathers was given a breathalyzer test and recorded a blood alcohol level of .158. He was taken into custody and charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The Carroll County Police Department worked in conjunction with the Sheriff’s office on the case.
