A Manning man remains in custody at the Carroll County jail on a $50,000 bond following his arrest earlier this week for allegedly threatening others with firearms he was barred from possessing. According to Carroll County District Court records, 40-year-old Joseph Michael Bainbridge was arrested March 19 on two counts of control of a firearm by a felon and intimidation with a dangerous weapon, class D felonies, and second-degree harassment, a serious misdemeanor. Affidavits from the Manning Police Department say authorities executed a search warrant at Bainbridge’s residence in the 50 block of Ann St. on March 15 and recovered a small-caliber revolver, a Ruger 10/22 rifle, and multiple substances believed to be narcotics. According to authorities, Bainbridge threatened to kill the victim and their family during a video call on March 18. Bainbridge was arrested the following day and booked into the Carroll County jail, where he remains in custody. In a social media post this (Friday) morning, the Manning Police Department says they requested additional law enforcement presence in the community last weekend after Bainbridge allegedly threatened local officers and their families. Bainbridge’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 30 at the Carroll County courthouse. He faces a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison and nearly $23,000 in fines if convicted.
