The Carroll Police Department reports an Omaha woman was taken into custody after assaulting an officer and resisting arrest early yesterday (Tuesday) morning. Authorities say officers were dispatched at approximately 12:39 a.m. to an apartment in the 100 block of S. Crawford Street in response to a reported disturbance. While officers spoke with witnesses, one of the individuals at the residence, identified as 42-year-old Sonata Larae Harper, attempted to walk away from the scene. Harper refused to speak with law enforcement and kicked an officer during the exchange. She was then taken into custody, and authorities say she repeatedly refused officer commands, needing to be assisted into and out of the patrol car. She was booked into the Carroll County jail for interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor. A 17-year-old female was also charged with two counts of assault following the incident.
