Main Street Coon Rapids (MSCR) received a prestigious award from Main Street Iowa (MSI) at the organization’s annual awards conference last week. The program honors the efforts of those who work to revitalize Iowa’s downtowns and make a difference in the state’s Main Street programs. MSCR’s Downtown Dash and Dine event won the special event award for communities with less than 5,000 in population. In addition, Brenda Schlatter and Holly Alex of Coon Rapids received awards for their leadership in creating last fall’s Downtown Harvest Party. MSCR Executive Director Kaite Mason says, “It was a huge honor to receive a state-wide award for our work in Coon Rapids. The entire Downtown Dash and Dine team, Brenda, and Holly, were very worthy of the recognition they received. I am very proud to work with these amazing volunteers in our community.” From 2021 to 2022, the Downtown Dash and Dine raised $23,000 for community development within Coon Rapids downtown district.
