Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird has filed new claims in her ongoing lawsuit against the Biden Administration’s immigration parole action. The additions filed last week specifically target the administration’s use of immigration parole to release illegal immigrants into the country, despite the surge of migrants crossing the southern border. The initial lawsuit contested the immigration parole program introduced by the Biden Administration, which allows around 360,000 aliens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to settle in the United States annually. Bird alleges the move effectively created a new federal visa program without congressional action. Attorney General Bird expressed concerns over the timing of this policy, emphasizing the current record-breaking influx of illegal immigrants at the southern border. She says, “Americans are dying from the drugs flowing into our communities. Women and children are being trafficked. But rather than secure our southern border, President Biden continues to weaken it. That’s why I’m suing the Biden Administration over their illegal border actions and fighting to keep Iowans safe.” The Attorney General’s office is seeking a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to prevent the implementation. Attorney General Bird has joined with 12 other attorneys general in the Texas-led lawsuit.
