Three Carroll Women Injured In NE Iowa Crash Sunday

Three Carroll women were injured, one seriously, over the weekend in a single-vehicle car accident in northeast Iowa. According to the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Angela Marie Boes, 58-year-old Kay Jean Stevens, and 66-year-old Cindy Jo Greteman, all of Carroll, were passengers in a 2014 Ford F150, operated by 63-year-old Jonathan Lynn Hougen of Decorah. Authorities say the crash occurred at approximately 6:17 p.m. Saturday, about 10 miles northwest of Decorah. The initial report shows Hougen failed to stop for a posted stop sign at a T-intersection and drove into a ditch, colliding with the back of an embankment. Hougen, Boes, and Greteman reported suspected minor injuries, while Stevens, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained severe injuries. All occupants were transported by ambulance to WinnMed Hospital in Decorah for treatment. Damage to the pickup was estimated at $12,000, and Hougen was cited for failure to obey a traffic control device.
