The Storm Lake Police Department reports three people were taken into custody over the weekend on drug and firearms charges. Authorities say officers conducted a traffic stop at approximately 10 p.m., and the K9 unit indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A search revealed open containers of alcohol, marijuana, prescription pills, psilocybin mushrooms, and an ATI GSG MP40 pistol. Eighteen-year-old David Washington of Chicago, Ill. was booked on trafficking in stolen weapons, a class D felony, and possession of controlled substances, person ineligible to carry dangerous weapons, and person in possession of stolen property, serious misdemeanors. Two other women in the car were also charged. Nineteen-year-old Olivia Reis of Fonda was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Twenty-year-old Katy Unger, also of Fonda, was cited for possession of alcohol under the legal age. Washington was released from custody over the weekend after posting a $9,000 bond.
