The third annual Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope fundraiser for the St. Anthony Cancer Center is scheduled for this weekend in Mt. Carmel, and organizers hope they will surpass the $30,000 milestone after this year’s program. The event is hosted by the Nepples of Mt. Carmel and their family. It started as a way for the family to recognize their own challenges with cancer, but it was soon drawing hundreds of people and raising thousands of dollars. In its first two years, Sunflowers: Share Light & Give Hope raised over $20,000, all donated to the St. Anthony Cancer Center to assist patients, treatment programs, and support initiatives. The 2023 event begins at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 9 at 19813 140th St. in Mt. Carmel. Attendees can pick up a bouquet of fresh-cut sunflowers for a free will donation and browse the selection of homemade crafts, metal tins, t-shirts, and other items. Those unable to join in person on Sunday can still support the cause using the methods included with this story on our website.
