Today (Tuesday) marks the opening of the 2023 Carroll County Fair in Coon Rapids. The first few days consist primarily of animal shows and static equipment judging. Fair Board President Brian Sander says those are fun in their own right, but Thursday is the first day with scheduled entertainment, headlined by Edward Wunder “That Hypnotist” at 8 p.m.
The carnival opens at 3 p.m. Thursday and lasts through 7 p.m. Thursday’s schedule also includes the Little Royals contest at 7 p.m. and the fair queen contest around 7:45 p.m. Friday features the always popular demo derby at the track starting at 7 p.m., followed by live music from Dirt Road Divide at 9 p.m. Sander says the fun will continue through the weekend.
The Carroll County Fair Parade begins at 11 a.m. Saturday in Coon Rapids, with co-ed mud volleyball starting at 1 p.m., the pedal tractor pull at 1:30 p.m., and the Figure 8 races at 7 p.m. Fireworks will follow the races, followed by live music from Cody Hicks.
