Glidden residents and Glidden FFA Alumni will pack the streets this weekend for the 2023 Glidden FFA Fun Days. Dan Schoenherr, part of the FFA alumni organizing team, says what started as a one-day celebration has become one of Glidden’s largest events of the year.
The fun begins tomorrow (Thursday) night with the carnival’s opening, hosted by the City of Glidden. Friday’s activities feature the penny dive at the Glidden Aquatic Center at 3 p.m., carnival rides opening at 4 p.m., the all-school reunion at 5 p.m., and an assortment of amusing attractions starting at 7 p.m.
Fireworks will close out Friday night at the Glidden ball field at dusk. Saturday is the Glidden FFA Fun Days’ main event, with a full day planned from morning to evening. The free community breakfast in the city park opens at 7 a.m., the tractor ride begins at 8:30 a.m. for a $10 entry fee for participants, the motor show in the park starts at 9 a.m., and the Little Miss and Mr. FFA Contest gets underway at 9:15 a.m. Schoenherr says there is still plenty to do after the parade, which starts at 11 a.m.
The Glidden FFA Fun Days are hosted as a joint effort between the Glidden FFA Alumni, the City of Glidden, the Glidden Fire Department, and many other local organizations and businesses. The full schedule of events is included below.
