A Manning man accused of stealing a pickup truck from a church parking lot in Manning near the end of last year has been sentenced in Carroll County District Court. According to court records, 37-year-old Michael William Alexander was arrested in connection to the theft of a 1996 Ford F150 that was reported missing from the Zion Lutheran Church’s parking lot on Dec. 1. Miller was charged with second-degree theft, a class D felony, and pled guilty to the charge earlier this summer. Alexander’s sentencing hearing was held last week. As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, a five-year prison term was suspended, and Alexander will instead be placed on probation for three years to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services. Additionally, nearly $2,000 in fines and surcharges were suspended, but Alexander will be required to pay over $2,000 in court costs, attorney fees, and victim restitution.
