Glidden-Ralston Set For New Year As Officials Prepare For November Referendum On Proposed School Improvements

The countdown to the start of the new school year is on for area students, with only five days left until classes begin next week. District According to Glidden-Ralston (G-R) Community School Superintendent Kreg Lensch, new teachers arrived for onboarding yesterday (Thursday), and veteran teachers are back on Monday. G-R welcomed two new teachers and four new associates this year. Lensch says they had a larger-than-usual number of open teacher slots this year, but the hires they did make were hard-to-fill positions.

Lensch says physical changes to the G-R facilities were relatively minor over the summer, focusing on modernizing their K-12 building for the new year.

Lensch adds they finished an HVAC project in the G-R gymnasium, which will be airconditioned for the first time for the fall season. He says more extensive renovations are in the works, as school officials plan to bring a $7.3 million General Obligation Bond question to voters during the Nov. 7 city/school election.

Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more information on the November G-R bond question as the public information campaign begins in the months ahead. Students and families are encouraged to join in G-R’s open house on Monday, Aug. 21, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Class starts on Wednesday, Aug. 23. With only a few days of summer break remaining, Lensch encourages students to view each school year as a long-term investment.

Stakeholders can log on to glidden-ralston.k12.ia.us for G-R-related information and announcements concerning extracurricular activity schedules, lunch menus, and more.
