Nathan Ramaekers of Carroll

Nathan Gregory Ramaekers, age 30, of Carroll, IA, passed away at Iowa Methodist Medical Center on Sunday, September 3, 2023 surrounded by his family.

    Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with Fr. Tim Johnson as Celebrant.  Music for the Mass will be by Kathy Halbur, Kathleen Macke, and Duane Handlos.  Lector for the Mass will be Diane Hannasch.  Eucharistic minister will be Judy Feld. Gift bearers will be Matt and Gina Ramaekers.  Casket bearers will be his Dad, Andy Ramaekers, his brother-in-law Shane Patterson and his friends: Josh Zimmerman, Jay Peter, Cole Bush, Jim Sanders, Rory Shepherd, and Pat Tigges.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

     Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Church from 5 – 7 P.M. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.  Additional visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 – 10:15 A.M. on Thursday prior to the Mass.

     In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Nathan’s name for a later designation.

     Nathan was born on March 1, 1993 in Carroll, IA, and was the son of Andy and Amy (Johnson) Ramaekers.  He attended Kuemper Catholic Schools and graduated in 2011.  Nate started working for various local businesses at age 16.  He worked with his Dad at Midwest Wholesale at age 19, and from there moved on to Hog Barn Repair and Maintenance.  He also worked for Tigges Overhead Doors installing garage doors.  Nate recently rejoined his father at Midwest Wholesale and was injured in an accident while working at his job which he passionately loved.

     Nate met Amanda Zimmerman and her son Mason in 2016.  In 2019 they welcomed their son Jackson LeRoy Ramaekers.  They made their home on an acreage near Templeton.  He later welcomed his daughter Reagan Nicole Ramaekers in 2022.

     Nate was a truck and tractor enthusiast and enjoyed tractor rides; he even made modifications to his tractor so his whole family could ride along.  He was a member of the Old Iron Club.  He loved trucking and dreamed of operating alongside his Dad.  Nate loved to socialize, ride his Harley, and help ANYONE in need.

     Left to cherish his memory are his parents Amy and Andy Ramaekers of Carroll; two sisters: Mallory Patterson (Shane) of Carroll and Kate Ramaekers (Nate Vonnahme) of Solon; the love of his life Amanda Zimmerman and her son Mason Berhens (10), their son Jackson (4), and his daughter Reagan (1).  Nate is also survived by his grandparents: LeRoy Johnson and Jack and Kathy Ramaekers all of Carroll; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, one nephew, several cousins and countless good friends.

     Nate was preceded in death by his grandmother Sue Johnson.
