Traffic Stop In Jefferson May Lead To Drug/Weapons Charges For Missouri Man

A Missouri man may face felony weapons charges following a routine traffic stop in Jefferson on Saturday evening. At approximately 10:03 p.m., a Jefferson police officer performed a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 30 near Grimmel Road. While interacting with the driver, identified as 38-year-old Jerry Lee Webb, the officer saw a short-barreled shotgun located in the backseat of the vehicle. Federal law prohibits shotguns to be equipped with barrels less than 18 inches in length. Law enforcement performed a probable cause search of the car and recovered a glass smoking device and suspected narcotics. Webb was cited for failure to provide proof of financial liability, operation of a motor vehicle with an expired driver’s license, and operation of a motor vehicle without registration. Additional charges are pending the return of laboratory testing on the seized materials.
