The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) has launched its latest round of the On-Farm Biodiesel Credit program, supporting farmers committed to using higher biodiesel blends. Under this program, farmers in Iowa who purchase higher biodiesel blends can receive incentives of up to 50 cents per gallon. To be eligible, farmers must utilize an on-farm tank for agricultural operations. IRFA Marketing Director Lisa Coffelt says, “IRFA is thrilled to be able to add additional funding to this program in time for Fall harvest. The use of biodiesel is supported by John Deere and CASE IH engines. Being able to support biodiesel and our Iowa farmers through this program is a win-win.” Collaborating with the program in 2023 are the Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Biodiesel Board, and multiple biodiesel producers in the state, including Western Iowa Energy in Wall Lake. The total funding for this year’s planting and harvest season is $67,500. Farmers can earn 25 cents per gallon for using B11 (11 percent biodiesel) and 50 cents per gallon for B20 (20 percent biodiesel), with a maximum credit of $500. The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with eligibility criteria and procedures outlined on the IRFA website. A link with more information is included below.
