Mark Anthofer of Kansas City, MO

Mark Joseph Anthofer, age 57, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at Aspire of Platte City, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with Deacon Alan Loew officiating. Music for the service will be by Kathy Halbur. Casket bearers will be Butch Anthofer, Colby Anthofer, Riley Anthofer, Laney Anthofer, Taylor Escobar, James Sommer, and Curt Scott. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Visitation will be held at Holy Spirit Church from 9:30 – 10:45 A.M. on Friday prior to the Mass.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com

Mark was born on May 4, 1966 in Omaha, NE, and he was the son of Albert and LaVonne (Schlerman) Anthofer. His family moved to Carroll when he was in grade school and Mark attended Holy Spirit grade school and he graduated from Kuemper High School in 1984. He attended college DMACC graduating with a degree in Tool and Die Making like his father. He moved to Kansas City following college and worked for May Tool in Independence. Mark was married to Amber Huyck in 2012 and the couple later divorced. Mark was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. He also followed the Nebraska Huskers and NASCAR. He enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and collected Harley memorabilia.

Mark is survived by his mother LaVonne Anthofer of Carroll; a sister Karen Sommer (James) of DeSoto, KS; a brother Brian “Butch” Anthofer of Kansas City, MO; three nieces: Taylor Escobar, Riley Anthofer, and Laney Anthofer; one nephew Colby Anthofer; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Albert Anthofer in 2022.
