Stacey McCaulley is one of seven candidates who will appear on the ballot during the Nov. 7 City/School elections for the three open Carroll Community School District (CCSD) board seats. McCaulley has been a district stakeholder since 1996, when she moved to Carroll. McCaulley sent both of her kids to CCSD, but their experiences have been very different.
McCaulley says she brings a unique perspective on CCSD, as she has a lot of experience with the special education department and the gifted and talented program. McCaulley currently works for Wittrock Motor Company as their Title Clerk/Warranty Administrator. McCaulley has learned over her time in the automotive and equipment industry that it takes a team for an organization to be successful, and promises to bring that mindset to the boardroom. She says one group that isn’t being heard enough is students.
McCaulley says one of her chief concerns for the district is safety. She says students and staff deserve to feel safe and have an appropriate learning environment at school.
Rising behavioral issues at the school also tie into her concern. She says distractions in the classroom are a problem twice over, as students are missing out on educational time and behavior concerns are not adequately addressed. McCaulley says she’d also like to see communication improve from administrators and staff.
The instruction support levy renewal is also on the Nov. 7 ballot. McCaulley says the positives the ISL creates far outweigh the negatives.
McCaulley is scheduled to appear alongside the six other candidates at the Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP) Forum on Wednesday, Oct. 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Carroll High School auditorium. Those candidates include Jason Schagt, Sara Woerdehoff, Casie Forke-Burke, Jim Friel, Jill Johnston, and Cindy Scaturico.
