Marjorie was born on November 26, 1934, the daughter of Joseph Sr. and Mary (Phieffer) Haubrich. She was raised with her 14 siblings on a farm southwest of Dedham. She followed her faith to Milwaukee, Wisconsin when she was a teen to go to school at Sisters of St. Francis. Marjorie then returned home to work for a farmer south of Dedham. On September 22, 1952, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Schultes at St. Joseph’s Church in Dedham. Marjorie was a devoted homemaker and housewife raising their 7 children: Tom, Mary, Lori, Jerry, Larry, Linda, and George. The family lived south of Dedham where they were engaged in grain and livestock farming with corn, soybeans, chickens, cattle and hogs. Farm life seemed to be her calling as she dealt with the daily challenges and found the many small blessings that were thrown at her daily.
Marjorie and Lawrence moved to Exira in 1979 where Marjorie dedicated her time to her family and church. She enjoyed her work at the Exira Congregate Meals during her life. In 1995, Lawrence and Marjorie moved to Carroll to enjoy retirement. She spent much time as a volunteer and a caregiver to Lawrence. Marjorie spent the last part of her life residing in the Exira Care Center and then Audubon Friendship Home to receive more specialized care. She was a hard-working woman who dedicated her life to family and was a strong and faithful servant to the Lord.
Marjorie is survived by her children: Tom (Lorilyn) Schultes of Anita, Lori (Bruce) Molle of Boy River, MN, Jerry (Mary) Schultes of Audubon, Larry (Diane) Schultes of Weldon, Linda (Tim) Irlmeier of Audubon, and George (Connie) Schultes of Exira; 28 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; her sisters, Irene Ankenbauer and Donna Grimm; her sisters-in-law, Lorraine Schultes and Charlotte Haubrich; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
