Iowa Senator Jason Schultz of Schleswig has announced his intention to run for reelection in Senate District 6 in the November 2024 election. Schultz was first elected to the Senate in 2014 after serving three terms in the Iowa House and has become one of the longest-serving current GOP legislators. He was first elected to the District 6 seat in 2022 following the most recent redistricting. Schultz says, “My time in the Iowa Senate has been marked by incredible accomplishments. Over the last few years, we have delivered historic income and property tax relief, massive education reforms for Iowa students and parents, and protected the freedoms Iowans hold dear. I want to ensure our reforms are protected and continue finding common-sense solutions in the Iowa Senate. It has also become clear to me how important it is for Iowa to fight back against the failures and constant overreach of the federal government, and I am asking for the opportunity to do that work. It has been an honor to represent Senate District 6. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to work with the constituents I’ve had the honor of representing for the last several years.” When not in session, Schultz farms with his family and is an active member of his community through the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Iowa Senate District 6 includes Carroll, Audubon, Ida, Crawford, and Shelby Counties and a small section of northeastern Pottawattamie County.
