Catherine Arts of Carroll

Catherine S. (Cathy) Arts passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 at the age of 84 after vigorously fighting Parkinson’s for 19 years.

A prayer service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the prayer service.  Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Following the burial, a reception and sharing of memories will be held in the Sharp Center.

Born on March 14th, 1939, in Carroll, Iowa, the third of four children to Lloyd C. and Margaret Tangney Booth.

Cathy enjoyed her childhood in Carroll along with visits to Spencer Iowa and the Iowa Great Lakes, the original home of her parents. Cathy met her husband, Mike Arts, in Carroll and enjoyed a long friendship prior to their wedding in 1960.

Cathy enjoyed raising her two children, Mary Beth(Dan) Hunt and Peter (Susan) Arts, and truly enjoyed her four grandchildren, Katherine and Harrison Arts and Megan and Matthew Hunt, and one great grandchild, Alice Homan.

Cathy was a mother, community volunteer, a business woman, and a friend to many. She was a long time Girl Scout volunteer in every community she lived in. Cathy served as the President of Florida’s Palm Glades Florida Girl Scout Council. In addition, she was past chairman of the Florence Fuller Development Center and pas president and board member of the Boca Raton Historical Society. Cathy, along with her husband Mike, received the 1999 Ronald G Assaf Benefactors Award from Boca Raton’s St Jude Catholic Church and the 22nd Annual Boca Raton Award from Lynn University in 2002.

She enjoyed bridge, mahjong and reading. She was an excellent cook and entertainer. Cathy and Mike loved to travel and enjoyed it when friends and family would visit them in Florida.

Cathy is survived by Mike, her husband of 64 years, daughter Mary Beth(Dan) Hunt, son Peter(Susan) Arts, grandchildren Megan Hunt, Matthew Hunt, Katherine Arts and Harrison Arts, and great grandchild, Alice Homan. Other family member include brother Fred(Mary Ann) Booth and Tom(Gail) Booth. She is predeceased by two babies that were born into heaven, Jane Ann and Paula Ann Arts, her sister Mary Farrell Beiter and parents Lloyd and Margaret Booth.
