Carroll County Supervisors Approve Nearly $42,000 In Change Orders For Courthouse Project

The Carroll County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Monday to approve several change orders for the ongoing HVAC improvements and interior renovation project at the Carroll County Courthouse. The change orders total $41,592 and are split between three line items. IT Director Dalton Morrison explains that the bulk of the cost, nearly $37,000, is for added electrical and communication connections throughout the building.

The remaining two items are much smaller. Morrison says they are having issues with one of the courthouse’s automatic door openers and need to replace it.

The new opener comes at a cost of $1,074. District 1 Supervisor Scott Johnson says the final item is an issue with the power supply to the heating element in the courthouse garage.

The cost to correct that oversight is $3,553. Following the change order approval, Board Chair Stephanie Hausman commented that the project has gone about as smoothly as they could have hoped, at least so far.

Work on the upper level of the courthouse wrapped up in October, and crews are now working on the main level. Close to a year remains before the project will be completed.
