GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley will be in Carroll this (Monday) afternoon as the countdown to Iowa’s first-in-the-nation caucuses nears its end. Haley’s career in politics includes two terms as the governor of South Carolina and a stint as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations during the Trump administration. Haley is hosting a town hall at 2:15 p.m. at the Santa Maria Winery. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. The latest polling averages from Project 538 show support for Haley among likely Iowa caucus-goers, rising from around 11 percent at the beginning of October to 17.5 percent last week. Former President Trump continues to dominate the GOP field, with 50.1 percent in the latest polling averages. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis remains in second with 19.5 percent. Ohio businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, who has aggressively campaigned in Iowa over the last several weeks, is polling at 5.4 percent.
