Annette Wurr of Auburn

Annette Wurr age 86 of Auburn, IA went to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at the Accura HealthCare of Lake City, IA.

Annette Loeffler was born September 27, 1937, to Anthony and Dorothy (Cretsinger) Loeffler at their rural home near Lohrville, IA. In 1955 Annette graduated from Rinard High School where she was a member of the basketball team. After graduation, she attended the American University of Beauty School and earned her Cosmetology License.

On April 8, 1958, Annette was united in marriage to Richard Wurr at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lohrville, IA. Annette and Richard lived on the family farm in rural Auburn, IA where they farmed and raised their family. This union was blessed with three children, Connie, Douglas, and Colleen. Richard passed away on January 23, 2004.

Annette worked as a CNA/CMA for the Shady Oaks Nursing Home for over 30 years. Annette enjoyed living on the farm, raising animals, gardening, and mowing the yard. She also enjoyed attending grandchildren’s activities and having coffee with her friends. Annette was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and New Orleans Saints fan.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters: Connie (Bill) Hughes of Battle Creek, NE; Colleen Overton of Benbrook, TX; son: Douglas Wurr of Auburn, IA; sister: Theresa (Roger) Willison of Lohrville, IA; six grandchildren: Chuck (Jamie) Hughes, Nick (Emily) Hughes, Lacey Wurr, Lara Wurr, Logan Wurr, and Samuel Overton; nine great-grandchildren: Jailynn, Easton, Makenna Mikayla, and Mallory Hughes, Brycen Williams, Jaxtyn, Holtyn, and Esley Haberl, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Anthony and Dorothy Loeffler; husband: Richard Wurr; sisters: Catherine Davis and twin sister, Bernadette (Bunny) Clark; parents-in-law: Carl and Clara Wurr; and niece: Rhonda Willison.

Funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m., Friday at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Auburn, IA with burial to follow in the Cottonwood Cemetery in rural Lake City, IA. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday at the Lampe & Powers Funeral Home in Lake City, IA.
