The cities of Pomeroy, Halbur, and Sac City are all nominated to be recipients of the 2024 Paint Iowa Beautiful grant, which will grant the communities free gallons of paint to complete specific projects to maintain the appearance of buildings, facilities, and parks. Paint Iowa Beautiful is a program offered through Keep Iowa Beautiful and Diamond Vogel Paint of Orange City to reward grants for communities to receive free paint for various projects throughout Iowa. The 21-year partnership between Diamond Vogel and Keep Iowa Beautiful has helped complete over 1,400 community projects in Iowa by providing over 12,750 gallons of paint. This year, the Pomeroy Historical Society will be able to repaint the first and second floors of the Pomeroy Historical Society Museum. Sac City will use the paint for the fish-cleaning house at Historic Chautauqua Park this summer. The Halbur Development Corporation will give the Halbur Community Center a fresh look. Vice President and Marketing for Diamond Vogel Paint Doug Vogel says, “The partnership with Keep Iowa Beautiful allows Diamond Vogel to assist and work with many local volunteers and organizations that help strengthen communities, making Iowa one of the best states in the nation to live.
